I’m going to have to agree with Rebecca, as I think it was some type of audio-crawling bot that stumbled across the video and noticed what song was being used.

Good points, guys. — Regardless, I have a feeling that the ROLFcon folks were the victim of a random audio-crawling bot that noticed the music. At the same time, I think it’s lucky for us, who understand the stupidity of it all, that it picked these smart people who quickly jumped to their feet with a fabulous response.

Remember, the goal of big companies isn’t to connect with users, its to connect with dollars. Soulja Boy and his record company have also disabled embedding on most of his videos so that you can’t post them elsewhere online so that they can maintain the revenue from the advertising on YouTube. It’s not about sharing the music, its about bringing in the dollars.

Crazy. You would think you would want as many people as possible talking about and listening to your music. Also, they have not taken them all down though… the video linked to in this comment is still up… MIT Geeks Doing Soulja Boy Dance.
